Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) has signed a contract to provide Miami-based Regional One with a CRJ200 SF Freighter. The CRJ200 commenced modification last week at Commercial Jet’s Miami, Florida facility and will be re-delivered to Regional One in the beginning of April 2018.
Regional One will be providing a finance lease of the completed CRJ200 SF to Estonia-based Airest, which will be the first European operator for the CRJ200 SF. Airest plans to acquire and operate up to four AEI CRJ200 SF’s.
The AEI CRJ200 SF will provide Regional One with an Ancra CLS capable of carrying eight 61.5″ x 88″ containers/pallets, P1 to P8.
The AEI CRJ200 SF ‘Large Cargo Door’ conversion consists of the installation of a 94″x77″ cargo door on the left side of the fuselage, installation of a 9G rigid cargo/smoke barrier and modification of the main deck to a Class E cargo compartment. After conversion the aircraft will have the capability to carry containerised and/or bulk cargo up to 6.7 tonnes.
AEI said its cargo doors have earned a reputation of being the most robust and reliable in the conversion industry. The cargo door will be hydraulically operated and actuated from the inside of the aircraft by an independent system. Hydraulic pressure is available from two sources – a 28VDC electrically operated hydraulic pump, or a manual hand pump. The door control and manual pump will be located on the 9g barrier, allowing a single person to operate the Main Deck Cargo Door.
