New heavy lift drone by Russia’s ARDN has 180kg payload

A new cargo drone designed by Russian company ARDN technology is being aimed at the logistics and agribusiness sectors and boasts a 180 kg payload with a flight time of up to eight hours.

According to ARDN, the multi-rotor, autonomous drone has applications numerous applications including: Oil and gas, or marine sector logistics such as delivery of spares, equipment and food to oil rigs, remote drilling stations or ships at sea; postal logistics including delivery to hard-to-reach residential areas; agriculture such as pesticide and fertiliser application; emergency situations including the delivery of food, rescue equipment and medicine to areas of natural disasters or at sea; and even firefighting for hard to reach areas or skyscrapers.

With a maximum flight speed of 70 KPH and maximum altitude of 3,000 m, the drone – measuring 5.2 metres by 2.2 metres –has a positional accuracy of 30cm. The drone uses its gasoline-powered engines for its two primary lift props, and uses all four sets of twin props with electric motors to help stabilise and steer it.
