Liege Cargo Agency (LCA) is the first Walloon company to obtain BE-GATE authorisation aimed at speeding e-commerce, following its recent launch at Air Cargo Europe, earlier this month.
Active in the air freight sector, LCA is now able to tap simplified administrative procedures related to e-commerce as a result of the new BE-GATE digital system developed by the Belgium Customs and Excise Department.
For Eric Bruckmann, CEO of Liege Cargo Agency, this new recognition confirms the quality of services offered to airport customers: “We are very proud to be the first Walloon SME to receive this authorisation issued by the Belgian customs. This is an asset for our customers active in e-commerce which generates more and more volumes at Liege Airport.”
In concrete terms, Be-Gate is:
• a secure electronic connection between the e-commerce operator and customs, specifically adapted to processing large amounts of data;
• allows effective customs controls based on risk analysis;
• improves communication for maximum transaction speed;
• anticipates upcoming legislative changes
Bruckmann adds that the digitalisation of formalities enables LCA as ‘best in class’: “The Customs and Excise services at Liege Airport are ‘customer’ oriented and this is a major asset in the context of constantly developing activities. Thanks to a modern, efficient administration, private companies can boost their business,” he says.
Liege Cargo Agency is a neutral, private company providing air cargo services at Liege Airport. It was created in September 2002 and gradually developed to become the leader in customs clearance, air cargo monitoring, quality control, transport of horses and e-commerce at Liege Airport.
