Korean Air Cargo, a member of SkyTeam Cargo, has extended its contract with LUG aircargo handling at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) for a further three years to 2022.

LUG aircargo handling has partnered Korean Air Cargo for some 22 years now, handling freight for passenger and all-cargo aircraft, as well as road feeder services. The airline is LUG’s longest standing repeat customer.

“We are delighted that we can continue our successful partnership with Korean Air Cargo,” says Patrik Tschirch, CEO, LUG aircargo handling, noting that in 2022 the handling company will mark its silver anniversary.

Korean Air Cargo’s network embraces five continents with the airline connecting Germany’s top international airport, Frankfurt, with Incheon International Airport (ICN), the airport of South Korea’s capital Seoul. It offers seven weekly passenger flights and up to nine full freighter flights to/from Frankfurt.

“Operational and innovative excellence are the foundation stones of Korean Air’s high reputation worldwide,” says Jochen Golle, traffic manager Germany & Denmark, Korean Air Cargo. “LUG aircargo handling matches our demands and expectations with highly trained people, modern infrastructure tailor-made for our airline, leading edge IT systems, and continually optimised processes.

“Frankfurt is a very challenging, complex airport in terms of space and traffic. We value LUG aircargo handling as a professional and reliable partner that helps us to deliver a seamless, top-notch end-to-end customer experience.

“We are thus very happy to continue our successful partnership with LUG in Frankfurt. Together we provide unsurpassed premium logistics solutions tailored to the demands of customers in Germany and neighboring countries,” Golle adds.

For Tschirch, the contract extension confirms to him that LUG is pursuing the right strategy with its strong emphasis on quality. It also consolidates LUG’s position as the leading independent, family owned GHA in Germany, he adds.

“It is good to know that our service quality, our experienced personal, our IT investments, our state-of-the-art warehousing facilities, and our direct ramp access are appreciated. We are very proud that we can handle every type of cargo including hazmat and temperature sensitive goods,” says Tschirch. He adds that since 2018 LUG’s station in Frankfurt has been CEIV Pharma certified.

LUG aircargo is a member of the family-owned Dettmer Group headquartered in Bremen, Germany. It offers a comprehensive range of sophisticated, reliable cargo handling services at the German airports of Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich. The company handled 345,000 tonnes of cargo in 2018 and it operates 33,000 sqm covered warehousing space with direct ramp access for all types of cargo at Frankfurt airport, some 3,300 sqm at Munich and 9,500 sqm at Hamburg airport.
