Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) announces today the company has signed a contract to provide Saltillo, Mexico-based Aeronaves TSM with two additional AEI MD-83SF freighter conversions.
The first MD-83 will commence modification in March 2020, followed by the second beginning in November 2020. Touch labour for both modifications will be performed by Commercial Jet’s Miami, Florida facility, which is an authorised AEI Conversion Center.
These two additional MD-83SF freighters will represent the 13th and 14th AEI MD-80SF series freighters in the Aeronaves TSM fleet. The Mexican carrier currently operates 11 AEI MD-80SF series freighters and is AEI’s largest operator of the platform. The 12th conversion commenced modification at the end of November 2019 and is scheduled to be re-delivered by the end of March of this year.
The AEI MD-83SF shall provide Aeronaves TSM with an Ancra cargo loading system capable of carrying twelve 88” x 108” Containers/Pallets, P1 to P12.
Aeronaves TSM was founded in 1995 and provides customised solutions for the air cargo and passenger transportation markets. The company services customers throughout the Americas including the US, Canada, México, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panamá.
TSM’s total current cargo fleet includes 25 Metro III, four Convair 640, six DC-9-30, two DC-9-15, 11 MD-80SF (2 additional under contract), five CRJ200 SF (one in service, two on order), along with an additional, four Citation II, and one Hawker 700 aircraft.
