LATAM Cargo launches Miami (MIA) – Florianopolis (FLN) full-freighter service becoming the only airline with direct service from North America to Southern Brazil.
The service will initially have one weekly frequency and its flights will utilise a B767F aircraft with a 53-tonne capacity. Cargo from North America, Europe and Asia will be combined in the US.
The route will provide capacity for the state of Santa Catarina’s commercial and industrial needs, according to LATAM. Among the industries in Santa Catarina, are automotive, metallurgical, food, pharmaceutical and electronic products.
“This new route will allow us to provide a direct, stable and permanent service between the United States and Santa Catarina; it is a concrete example of our efforts to satisfy our clients’ needs, says Gabriel Oliva, North America, Europe and Asia’s Commercial VP.
Before the Miami-Florianopolis route was implemented, international cargo entered Brazil through Guarulhos (GRU) and Viracopos (VCP) which required complementary ground transportation in order to reach its final destination.
“In addition to the benefits for Santa Catarina, through this new route we also extend our coverage in the country by totalling ten airports with cargo aircraft exclusive operation,” adds Kamal Hadad, LATAM Cargo’s Alliances and Network VP.
Hadad adds that the carrier will continue focused on offering more origins-destinations for international and domestic markets to satisfy its client’s needs.
